Livestock
Job Summary:
As a Livestock team member, you will unload handle and move hogs from our barns and facilities, all while following Humane Handling guidelines. This factory position is needed for 8-10 hours a day, including some Saturdays. First shift hours are 6:15am-3:15pm, second from 3:15pm - 12:30am and third shift from 10:00pm - 6:30am.
Responsibilities
- Handles swine unloading them from semi-trucks and directs them to the barns, while following Humane Animal Handling guidelines.
- Moves hogs from barns into the plant
- Maintains the barn facility in a clean and operating order
- Monitors the health of hogs reporting to supervisor of any changes
- Perform physically demanding work that requires attention to detail, strength, stamina and good hand-eye coordination (while keeping safety as top priority).
- Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers by maintaining a positive work atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- Experience in safe animal handling practices or willingness to learn about these practices
- Must be able to pass the Pork Checkoff Quality Assurance Test
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to identify risks that could affect the livestock's well-being
- Capability to react quickly to unpredictable livestock behaviors
- Ability to step in and out of pens with gates multiple times a day working in a fast-paced environment
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions including company policies & procedures
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to work in wet, humid, and odorous environments with animal feces and other fluids. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold or hot outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and exposure to dust.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position lifts heavy objects up to 50 lbs., walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arms and fingers, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and vision.

This manufacturing position earns a competitive wage of $20.00 per hour for first shift, $21.00 per hour for the second shift and $20.50 per hour for third shift.
