Core Duties

• Daily feeding & watering of equines (horses, donkeys, mules, ponies).
• Muck stalls / clean paddocks, pens, and run-ins.
• Grooming, basic hoof-picking, fly-spray, blanketing as seasonally needed.
• Turn-out & bring-in; safe haltering, leading, and tying.
• Monitor equine health; report injuries, lameness, or abnormal behavior.
• Load/unload and stack hay, grain, bedding.
• Basic ranch maintenance—fence repair, water-trough cleaning, arena dragging, simple tool upkeep.

Skills & Experience

• Prior, hands-on equine handling experience is preferred (groundwork and safety basics).
• Confidence working around donkeys and other livestock; understanding of equine body language.
• Familiarity with common feeds, supplements, and safe feed-room procedures.
• Ability to operate small equipment (UTV, tractor, feed trailer) or willingness to learn.

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Lift/push/pull 50 lb (hay bales, feed bags) repeatedly.
• Work outside year-round in heat, cold, dust, mud, and around large animals.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.

Availability & Work Style

• Early-morning start (typically 6:30–7:30 a.m.) plus afternoon feeding; weekends and holidays required on rotation.
• Reliable transportation and punctuality.
• Team player who communicates clearly with supervisors and volunteers; able to work independently without direct oversight.

Licenses & Screening

• Valid driver’s license; clean driving record for ranch vehicles/tractor.
• Background check and drug-free workplace compliance.

Preferred/Bonus

• First-aid/CPR certification (equine or human).
• Experience administering basic meds (oral paste, IM injections) under vet guidance.
• Farrier or basic hoof-trimming knowledge a plus.
