Job Summary:
CLJ Consulting and Contracting LLC is seeking an experienced Data Specialist to support the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). This role is critical in managing the acquisition, transformation, and integration of complex pension benefit datasets. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in data loading, analysis, and reconciliation using Microsoft Access, Excel, SQL, and other PBGC-supported tools. The Data Specialist will also serve as a key technical contributor to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and usability across PBGC systems.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Transfer, evaluate, and load pension-related data into PBGC systems with accuracy and timeliness.
• Analyze and reconcile large datasets using MS Access, Excel, and SQL queries.
• Generate benefit statements and support regular and ad-hoc data reporting.
• Assist in benefit data clean-up and transformation processes for accurate plan terminations and benefit administration.
• Document data processes, provide knowledge transfer, and conduct system testing.
• Support PBGC staff training as needed and communicate technical findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide mailbox coverage for incoming service.
• Be available for occasional weekend or after-hours work with advance notice.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field – or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience with enterprise and desktop databases, records management, and data conversions.
• Advanced expertise in Microsoft Access and Excel, including merging, importing/exporting, and reporting.
• Demonstrated experience working with SQL, VBA, and familiarity with Oracle databases.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple data tasks, and communicate effectively across technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting federal pension systems or similar benefit processing environments.
• Knowledge of pension benefit data lifecycle and legacy system migrations.
Additional Information:
• Core working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and pass required background checks.
