Job DescriptionINTRODUCTION

The Vice President of Information & Technology provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the organization’s technology and information systems. This role ensures digital information strategies, initiatives, and support services align with the business objectives, drives innovation, and delivers secure, reliable, and cost-effective technology solutions.

MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Partners with senior leaders to promote CAHC growth and maintain accreditation with EPIC.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with organizational priorities and growth.
  • Provides executive-level leadership to IT staff, fostering accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Partners with senior leaders to identify opportunities to leverage technology for operational and service improvements.
  • Establishes governance structures to guide technology investments and priorities.
  • Direct planning, implementation, and management of enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity.
  • Oversees IT budgets, resource allocation, and financial planning to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Monitors and evaluates IT system performance for cost, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Ensures reliable and secure technology environments, including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces IT policies, standards, and best practices across the organization.
  • Leads research and adoption of emerging technologies to support business growth and efficiency.
  • Drives digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure end-user services, training, and support provide excellent user experiences across the organization.
  • Advises the executive team and Board of Directors on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintains strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners.
  • Communicates technology strategies and initiatives in business-friendly language to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration or related field. Masters preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 3 years in a senior management or executive role preferred.
  • Experience with Epic systems required, including implementation, integration, optimization, and ongoing management of clinical and business applications. Proven ability to align Epic functionality with organizational workflows, compliance requirements, and strategic objectives.
  • Knowledge of Epic Community Connect models is a plus.
  • Proven expertise in IT strategic planning, infrastructure management, application development, and cybersecurity.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (HIPAA, HITECH, PCI, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, projects, and vendor relationships.
  • Exceptional leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align technology strategy with organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while balancing long-term vision with immediate needs.
  • Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), or in healthcare.
  • Ability to travel 10-30% of the time, primarily within Washington, DC.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in an office environment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Frequently required to sit, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, and talk/hear. Requires critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgment, communication, good customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed. Must always follow Unity Healthcare and departmental policies and procedures.
