Construction Superintendent (Commercial Projects)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. The Superintendent will be responsible for on-site management of daily operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, coordination with trades and stakeholders, and the ability to solve field-level challenges while maintaining clear communication with project management and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for commercial projects, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
• Enforce safety programs and conduct regular site safety inspections; ensure subcontractors comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and craft personnel to maintain schedule and production goals.
• Interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications; identify conflicts and escalate issues to project management with proposed solutions.
• Monitor daily progress and productivity; maintain accurate logs, reports, and as-built records.
• Manage materials deliveries, site logistics, and equipment to optimize workflow and minimize delays.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and owners to resolve field issues and update project schedules.
• Conduct quality control inspections to ensure workmanship meets contract requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate inspections and permits with authorities having jurisdiction and ensure timely closure of punch lists and project turnover.
• Mentor and train junior field staff and promote a collaborative, professional site culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects or equivalent field leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, commercial building systems, and reading/interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• Proven track record of managing project schedules, coordinating subcontractors, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA or local equivalents) and experience implementing site safety programs.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proficient in project documentation, daily reporting, and basic construction software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid) or willingness to learn.
• Valid drivers license; trade certifications or relevant construction licenses preferred.
• Ability to work in varying site conditions, climb ladders/scaffolding, and lift up to job-required limits when necessary.
