What You’ll Do
- Prioritize and respond to requests from JEM associates; represent JEM and Operations with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Inspect interior/exterior building areas and production equipment on a regular schedule; identify maintenance and repair needs.
- Clean machining equipment using appropriate solvents, cloths, vacuums, and related tools.
- Perform minor HVAC service along with painting, carpentry, and masonry tasks.
- Handle routine electrical and plumbing work (e.g., replace/repair fixtures, address leaking faucets).
- Schedule, coordinate, and oversee contractors (electricians, plumbers) for both planned and emergency jobs.
- Install modular office configurations and maintain office furniture.
- Use, maintain, and store hand/power/specialty tools safely.
- Manage inventories; purchase tools, hardware, and supplies within budget through local sources or JEM purchasing.
- Provide seasonal snow removal and salt application at entries and exits.
- Serve on the Safety Committee; promote safe practices and deliver training/updates to associates.
- Champion continuous improvement in facilities maintenance.
- Operate a forklift safely.
- Comply with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements.
- Support JEM’s mission and values, maintain reliable attendance, and perform other duties as assigned.
Must-Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience/training or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain and maintain).
Your Toolbelt of Skills
- Mechanical troubleshooting and pneumatics troubleshooting.
- Machine safety inspections and a strong safety mindset.
- Comfort with VFDs, PLCs, conveyor systems, and servo motors.
Environment & Demands
Expect occasional exposure to wet/humid (non-weather) areas, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes/airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, electrical shock risk, and vibration. Noise level is typically moderately loud.
Regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs.; frequently up to 25 lbs.; occasionally up to 50 lbs. Visual needs include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception. You’ll regularly stand, walk, reach, use hands, and talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb/balance, and stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl.
