The MDS Director is responsible for managing resident admission evaluations to ensure compliance with Medicare standards. This role involves cross-departmental collaboration to maintain high-quality care and support organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments for Medicare Part A residents using MDS 3.0.
- Communicate Medicare-related updates to relevant teams and departments.
- Lead educational initiatives on nursing and regulatory topics.
- Analyze and report quality metrics and indicators.
- Assess Medicare eligibility for admissions and coordinate assessment schedules.
- Keep abreast of changes in MDS reporting and provide necessary training.
- Collaborate with the Rehabilitation Department to ensure accurate therapy documentation.
- Oversee clinical aspects of the Quick Care program and contribute to staff training.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of Medicare Skilled Care Guidelines and MDS 3.0 regulations.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York and RAC-CT certification.
- Preferred management experience and expertise in gerontological nursing.
- Ability to make independent decisions and work effectively in team environments.
