Job Description
Job DescriptionAbout the Role
This is a senior/staff-level product engineering role at a fast-growing light industrial staffing marketplace, sitting at the intersection of applied AI and core platform engineering. You'll help define how AI agents are wired into production across the full stack — automating the sourcing, vetting, matching, and placement pipeline that powers millions of shifts. This is a high-impact, founding-team-adjacent position with direct influence over the company's technical architecture for years to come.
What You'll Do
-
Define and lead how AI agents are applied across the product stack to automate the end-to-end staffing pipeline.
-
Architect and build core systems including real-time matching engines, autonomous vetting pipelines, and agent orchestration harnesses.
-
Design and own the agentic platform layer — including evals, model strategy, and integration with enterprise operational systems (HRIS, WMS, ERP, TMS).
-
Drive backend performance, reliability, and scalability with a multi-quarter roadmap mindset.
-
Partner with the CTO on key architectural decisions for the agent platform and broader backend infrastructure.
-
Build and maintain frontend interfaces (web and mobile) that surface AI-powered capabilities to non-technical users.
-
Set the standard for how the team builds with AI-assisted tooling and agentic patterns.
What We're Looking For
-
5–10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years shipping features and products at early-stage startups with measurable business impact.
-
Deep proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js; strong experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models.
-
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Kafka, or RabbitMQ in production environments.
-
Experience building and shipping agentic or applied AI products from 0 to 1.
-
Familiarity with React and React Native for building web and mobile interfaces integrated with backend services.
-
Domain experience in at least two of: agentic/applied AI, matching or recommendation systems, marketplaces, multi-sided platforms, recruiting or labor platforms, or non-technical user-facing products.
-
Strong CS fundamentals, ideally from a rigorous academic background.
-
Comfortable operating in high-velocity, ambiguous, cross-functional early-stage environments.
-
Track record of sustained tenure at previous roles — no pattern of frequent short-term positions.
