Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Front Desk Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our patients. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our optometric practice. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and check them in for appointments
- Answer multi-line phones, direct calls, and return messages in a professional and timely manner
- Schedule and confirm appointments, maintain accurate patient records
- Verify insurance benefits and collect copayments or outstanding balances
- Input and update patient information in the practice management system
- Prepare and manage patient files, forms, and documentation
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure patient flow runs smoothly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and waiting area
- Handle basic administrative duties such as filing, faxing, emailing, and scanning
- Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or medical office training preferred
- Previous experience in a medical or optometric office is highly desirable
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Familiarity with insurance verification and billing processes is a plus
- Proficiency in office software and practice management systems (e.g., Revolution eHR)
