Position Overview

A prominent private school in the Atlanta area, supported by Technical Management Services (TMS), is seeking an experienced and highly capable Director of Facilities to oversee all campus facilities operations, including maintenance, grounds, housekeeping, and event support.

TMS is a proven facilities management organization successfully serving multiple private schools across the region. This role is part of a broader operational leadership structure and is responsible for executing high standards, consistency, and best practices across campuses.

The Director of Facilities ensures a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors while aligning day-to-day operations with long-term planning, risk management, and financial stewardship. Core responsibilities include campus operations oversight, preventative maintenance programs, contractor coordination, budgeting support, and strategic facilities planning.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

  • Reports directly to the TMS Director of Operations
  • Works closely with other TMS facility leaders to share information, implement best practices, and maintain operational consistency across multiple private school campuses
  • Leads on-site facilities execution while operating within the broader TMS management framework

Key Responsibilities

Campus Operations and Facilities Leadership

  • Direct daily maintenance, grounds, housekeeping, fleet, and event support operations
  • Ensure reliable facility performance, safety, and campus readiness
  • Support budgeting, procurement, and cost control initiatives
  • Coordinate and supervise vendors, contractors, and capital improvement work
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements

Systems, Planning, and Cost Stewardship

  • Utilize CMMS / facilities management software to manage:
    • Work orders
    • Preventative maintenance programs
    • Event setups and logistics
  • Implement best practices for cost savings, vendor selection, and materials purchasing
  • Identify efficiency improvements and long-term operational savings opportunities

Team Leadership and Culture

  • Provide daily leadership and accountability for a facilities team of approximately 20
  • Promote professionalism, teamwork, responsiveness, and pride in campus stewardship
  • Support performance development and operational consistency aligned with TMS standards

Required Qualifications

  • Significant, progressively responsible experience in facilities management leadership
  • Extensive experience in private schools or institutional campus environments strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate teams of 15 to 25 personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, operational, and financial management abilities
  • Physical capability to function in an active campus facilities environment
