Position Summary
The Field Service Technician plays a key role in supporting customers through installation, startup, training, troubleshooting, and ongoing technical support of automated packaging equipment and systems. This position operates primarily in the field with minimal supervision and reports to the Field Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and assist customer personnel with machine installation, startup, commissioning, and operator training
Provide on-site and remote technical service support when equipment is not performing to specification
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, PLC, HMI, and robotic systems
Navigate, edit, and support PLC and HMI programs (Allen Bradley/Rockwell preferred)
Support final machine checkout, ensuring equipment is fully operational and ready for shipment
Provide accurate and timely feedback to Engineering regarding field modifications, issues, and improvements
Develop strong customer relationships through professional communication and technical expertise
Technical Requirements & Qualifications
Strong mechanical and electrical assembly and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work online with PLCs and HMIs, including program navigation and edits
Experience supporting automated packaging equipment preferred
Familiarity with case packers, shrink wrappers, and robotic systems
FANUC robot experience and certification highly desirable
2 to 4 years of relevant field service or automation experience preferred
Ability to work independently in customer environments while collaborating effectively with internal team
