Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a background in personal injury law and third-party liability litigation, with the ability to manage cases from intake through trial preparation. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can provide strong support to attorneys while ensuring cases move forward efficiently.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with all phases of personal injury and third-party litigation cases.
- Order and follow up on requests for medical records and bills.
- Prepare medical bill evaluations on injury cases.
- Assist attorney with disbursement of funds once case settles.
- Draft, review, and file legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, and correspondence.
- Maintain and organize case files, both electronic and paper.
- Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and court personnel.
- Manage deadlines, court dates, and attorney calendars.
- Prepare case summaries, medical chronologies, and trial notebooks.
- Coordinate depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Perform legal research as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of legal assistant or paralegal experience in personal injury litigation and third-party liability cases.
- Strong knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience preparing cases for trial.
- Familiarity with medical record review and summarization.
