We are seeking a talented and experienced Back Office Medical Assistant to join our busy Podiatry practice in Goleta, with frequent travel to the Santa Barbara location. This full-time role supports a high patient volume of back office clinical support. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and partners effectively with both patients and a dedicated clinical team using common EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Responsibilities
- Manage phone communications and respond promptly to patient inquiries
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient benefits accurately
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring smooth patient flow
- Communicate treatment plans clearly and serve as liaison between doctors and patients
- Prepare exam rooms and support clinical procedures, including X-rays
- Provide coverage and assistance at both Goleta and Santa Barbara offices as needed
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members to maintain workflow efficiency
- Balance back office medical assisting tasks with some front office duties.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in medical terminology and insurance verification processes
- Experience with appointment scheduling and effective patient communication
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle a high volume of patients
- Ability to work collaboratively within a clinical team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of medical assisting experience
- Associate degree in Medical Assisting or related field preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
- Skilled in multitasking and managing patient communication efficiently
- Familiarity with common EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner
