Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced YugabyteDB Lead to drive the end-to-end production deployment and operationalization of YugabyteDB as a distributed, transactional data store. This role involves the build-out of a three-region cluster (2 in Azure, 1 on-prem), replacing Cassandra, and supporting future data domains such as money movement, payments, and communications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in production-grade YugabyteDB implementations, cloud infrastructure automation, and collaborative experience across application and infrastructure teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of YugabyteDB clusters in production environments
- Define and configure replication factors, consistency levels, sharding, and fault domains
- Support high availability and multi-region deployments (3-region cluster setup already defined)
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform (IaC)
- Integrate schema changes and infrastructure automation into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Develop monitoring and alerting solutions for cluster health, performance, and storage
- Collaborate with cloud and application development teams to align on performance and data access patterns
- Document architecture, decisions, configurations, and operational procedures
- Guide and mentor internal team members to build knowledge in YugabyteDB and distributed systems
Required Skills:
- Proven hands-on experience in YugabyteDB production-level deployment and operations
- Deep understanding of distributed databases and transactional data stores
- Strong experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Proficiency in CI/CD practices, preferably with Azure DevOps
- Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable)
- Experience in data migration strategies and implementation
- Knowledge of replication, sharding, fault tolerance, and consistency models
- Strong monitoring and performance tuning experience (query optimization, storage utilization, etc.)
- Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:
- Background in Cassandra or other distributed database technologies
- Experience in multi-region and hybrid (cloud + on-prem) deployments
- Prior work with money movement, payment systems, or communication platforms
Certifications:YugabyteDB certifications (if available) or equivalent distributed database expertise preferredCloud certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Database, etc.) are a plus
Education:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
