Routine work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Job Summary

The Director of Facility Maintenance directs the maintenance and operation of hospital buildings, grounds, equipment, and utility systems, including the procurement, generation, and operation of all utilities. This role establishes standards for work performance, equipment use, and preventive maintenance; supervises the day-to-day activities of the Maintenance and Environmental Services staff; and performs skilled and unskilled tasks as needed to support hospital operations. The Director is responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant environment of care in accordance with CMS Conditions of Participation, NFPA Life Safety Code, OSHA, KDHE requirements, and hospital policies. Responsibilities include evaluating and implementing repairs to facility interiors and exteriors, coordinating preventive maintenance to ensure bio-medical equipment functions safely according to industry standards, and ensuring parking lots, sidewalks, and entrances are safe and free of snow, ice, and debris. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in facilities management, industrial maintenance, construction management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience or training with heating, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, hazmat, oxygen, generator, specific mechanical systems like those used in this facility.
  • Experience with managing departments and supervision of others is essential.
  • Must be capable of communicating clearly (reading, writing, and speaking) in the English Language. Must be capable of reading and comprehending written policies/procedures and operation/maintenance instructions. Must have the ability to receive and relay phone or other business messages.
  • Must be able to operate computer, telephone and other department specific equipment required to perform duties of position.
