INTERFACE AND CONVERSION ANALYST
INTRODUCTION
Reporting to the Unity IT Infrastructure and Security Manager, this role will manage the interfaces and conversions of the Epic system within Unity Healthcare, primarily focusing on the implementation of the system and then providing ongoing support. The Interface and Conversion Analyst is responsible for the development management, documentation, coordination, and tracking of technical aspects and staff for all interface components of Epic. The analyst is also responsible for the setup and configuration of the Epic conversion interfaces within the Bridges application. This will include, where applicable, leading the implementation, upgrades, and maintenance of interfaces, as well as coordinating dependencies with appropriate teams, such as prerequisites in content mapping and related activities for application team-owned utilities and Epic import tools. The analyst needs to be able to coordinate these efforts with the larger Epic team, as well as support and implement specific interfaces. The position will serve as a technical resource for the project team with primary responsibilities for all aspects of implementing interfaces between MFA clinical and practice management systems with MFA vendors, provider organizations, and other third-party organizations as required. Responsibilities also include loading, testing, and organizing validation of external data within Epic. The individual must be able to maintain clinical and regulatory requirements in mapping tables, HL7 messaging standards, and maintaining clinical and external entity EHR demands.
MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties include data review and guidance, interface design and architecture, and operational management. UHC requires that Epic Bridges and Data Courier Analyst certifications be obtained within 180 days of hire. Required certifications must be maintained as assigned.
Legacy Data Conversion
- Manages the entire cycle of one or more data types for legacy data conversion, including analysis, data element mapping, testing and validation, error resolution, and production loads.
- Direct hands-on experience with Infor Cloverleaf is required; certification highly desirable.
- Works closely with application teams, subject matter experts, and third‐party application experts to determine business needs, document requirements, and configure conversion interfaces per the requirements.
- Identifying and escalating risks associated with technical project tasks and legacy data source systems.
- Coordinates application build requirements for conversion.
- Communicating with applications, third‐party vendors, legacy system technical resources, and operations stakeholders.
- Defines and completes setup for the transport method by which extracted source system data will be communicated to Epic, including troubleshooting data transport mechanisms.
- Understands Epic data structures and documenting technical specifications detailing target data elements Interpreting scope and business requirements for each dataset.
- Analyzes and manipulates large volumes of external data into an appropriate format for filing into Epic.
Interface Design and Architecture
- Develops and maintains system interfaces.
- Focuses on HL7 integration supporting back-end processes for financial and clinical applications and reporting.
- Guides interface design and build, testing the system, and analyze other issues associated with Bridges interfaces.
- Works with Epic representatives, interface engine developers, third‐party representatives, Unity's community partners, and operational stakeholders to ensure the system meets our business requirements.
- Manages escalations and acts as final decision maker for Bridges interface team decisions.
- Reviews the status of active projects and issues on an ongoing basis with project leadership.
- Holds weekly meetings with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones.
- Interprets and assesses issue impact and setting priority of issue resolution within the team.
Operational Management
- Manages the entire implementation cycle of interfaces, web services, and industry‐standard APIs ﴾such as FHIR﴿, including analysis, design, specification, implementation, go‐live, and support.
- Manages the entire cycle of one or more data types for legacy data conversions, including analysis, data element mapping, testing, and validation, error resolution, and production loads.
- Reviews, triages, and resolves day‐to‐day interface errors, including coordinating with technical teams, application teams, and third‐party system representatives as necessary.
- Identifies and escalates risks associated with technical project tasks, legacy data source systems, and third‐party systems.
- Coordinates application build requirements for conversion.
- Understands Epic data structures and documenting technical specifications detailing target data elements.
- Provides proactive support by monitoring live interfaces and collaborating with experts to resolve issues.
- Analyzes and manipulates large volumes of external data into an appropriate format for filing into Epic.
- Troubleshoot issues with users moving content management tickets
- Maintain and troubleshoot the interfaces that connect environments
- Run utilities for cleanup/maintenance of records, like the CID mapping utility
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in computer science or related field of study.
- One year of relevant interface and conversion work experience.
- Experience in a healthcare setting; FQHC or similar community health environment is a plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Epic Bridges certification must be held or acquired within 180 days of hire.
- Epic Data Courier Analyst certification must be held or acquired within 180 days of hire.
- Familiarity with Cloverleaf interface engine is desired.
- Strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.
