We are a well-established, $25 million per year equipment rental and sales company serving the North Country. With multiple locations across Upstate New York, we provide construction equipment, outdoor power equipment, compact machinery, and related services to contractors and homeowners. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team in the Watertown, NY area. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Position Overview

In this key role, you will manage vendor invoices and maintain accurate financial records in a busy equipment rental environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify vendor invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports for accuracy and proper coding
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies
  • Maintain organized accounts payable documentation
  • Support monthend closing processes and financial reporting
  • Handle vendor inquiries and build strong working relationships
  • Provide additional support to the accounting team as needed
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience (construction, equipment rental, or heavy equipment industry experience is a strong plus)
  • Proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
