About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer specializing in Microsoft Exchange to support a mission-critical federal program for the U.S. Department of the Treasury. This position supports Tier 3 Data Center Operations within the Treasury Foreign Intelligence Network (TFIN), a high-security classified environment operating 24/7.
This role is ideal for a Microsoft Exchange engineer who thrives in complex enterprise environments and is comfortable working fully on-site in a SCIF.
What You’ll Do
Core Exchange Engineering & Administration
-
Administer and maintain a multi-site Microsoft Exchange 2019 / SE enterprise environment.

Monitor Exchange system health, including:
-
Transport pipelines
-
Mailbox/database performance
-
DAG replication and availability
-
-
Perform PowerShell scripting for automation, mailbox optimization, system auditing, and reporting.
-
Manage Exchange backups, disaster recovery, and COOP readiness.
-
Administer and support Exchange Hybrid infrastructure for coexistence with Microsoft 365.
Operational Support & Lifecycle Management

Perform Exchange patching, cumulative updates, version upgrades, and general lifecycle maintenance.

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and governance frameworks, including:

Treasury Baseline Classified System standards

FISMA

Documentation, Knowledge Management & Training

Create and maintain:

Technical SOPs
-
Exchange configuration documents

Knowledge base articles

Technical diagrams and workflows

Provide cross-training to engineering and support staff as needed.
Reporting Requirements
Provide input for recurring government deliverables, including:

Daily Exchange health status checks
-
Weekly operations and security summaries
-
Monthly uptime and performance reporting
-
Ad hoc incident reports, AARs, and change request documentation
Collaboration
Work closely with:
-
Server, Network, and Telecom teams
-
Development staff
-
Tier 1–3 Help Desk personnel

Data Center Operations Engineering
Support escalations and troubleshooting of complex technical issues across the enterprise.
After-Hours Support
-
Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and emergency support.

Must be able to respond within 60 minutes and report on-site within 90 minutes when required.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications

Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (SSBI within the last 7 years).

Hands-on engineering experience with:
-
Microsoft Exchange 2013/2016/2019/SE

Exchange Hybrid
-
DAG management and troubleshooting
-

Strong proficiency with PowerShell for automation and enterprise administration.

Experience with disaster recovery and enterprise backup solutions.

Understanding of federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience supporting classified federal environments or intelligence community systems.

Familiarity with VMware, Citrix, AWS/Azure, and DoD cybersecurity tools (HBSS, ACAS).

IAT-II/IAT-III certifications: Security+, CASP, CISSP, etc.
