What You'll Do:
- Lead swimming lessons aligned with YMCA guidelines, using prepared and thoughtful lesson plans.
- Builds genuine connections with students and parents to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Promote family involvement and identify potential volunteers.
- Provide information about aquatics programs and connect participants with other YMCA opportunities.
- Keep accurate records (attendance, progress reports, etc.)
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Uphold YMCA policies and ensure all safety procedures are followed, including completing incident and accident reports when necessary.

Schedule & Pay:
- During school year: Monday, Wednesday & Saturday
- During the summer: Monday-Thursday (2-week session)
- Pay: Starting at $14.30/hour (up to $17/hour depending on experience)
- Bonus: Instructors also have the opportunity to begin teaching private lessons!
Requirements:
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification and Emergency Oxygen.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent.
- At least 16 years of age.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
