Location: New York, NY or Washington, DC
Salary: $225,000–$260,000
Direct counsel is seeking a Real Estate Construction Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience in real estate, construction, or energy law to join a national law firm’s expanding Construction team. The role offers immediate responsibility and hands-on experience with transactional work, dispute resolution, and day-to-day project counseling.
Responsibilities

Engage directly with clients on construction and real estate matters.

Draft, review, and negotiate construction agreements, design-build contracts, EPC contracts, development agreements, and industry-standard forms.

Support project structuring, coordination, and execution involving multiple stakeholders.

Conduct legal research and due diligence to manage project risks.

Assist in resolving construction disputes through arbitration or litigation.

Collaborate with internal teams and other practice groups to provide integrated client service.
Qualifications

1–3 years of experience in real estate, construction, or energy law. Construction law experience is highly valued but not mandatory.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication; client-focused approach.

Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction (NY, DC, or eligible to waive into DC Bar if applicable).
