Job Summary
We are seeking a Laboratory & Environmental Technician to support manufacturing operations through routine laboratory analyses, environmental sampling, analytical system monitoring, and hands-on environmental/plant activities. The ideal candidate will have laboratory, manufacturing, environmental, or related experience and be comfortable working in both laboratory and outdoor industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory analyses and testing.
- Collect samples according to established sample plans.
- Prepare basic calibration standards.
- Perform basic calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory analytical systems.
- Monitor analytical systems, identify issues, perform first-line troubleshooting, and escalate as appropriate.
- Evaluate data validity, apply basic statistical methods, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
- Document, communicate, and archive analytical results and calibration data.
- Follow Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Operational Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory work processes and tools.
- Escalate non-routine requests to the appropriate team member.
- Perform environmental sampling and testing.
- Conduct waste treatment pond rounds and support related operations.
- Coordinate saltwater and sludge truck scheduling and loading activities.
- Support sump routing and stormwater handling.
- Assist with line and filter clearing/unplugging activities.
- Operate valves and support other hands-on environmental/plant activities as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Vocational Education, or equivalent.
- Laboratory, manufacturing, environmental, or other related experience.
- Post-secondary coursework in Chemistry or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to perform routine laboratory testing, sample preparation, and basic equipment calibration.
- Basic troubleshooting and data interpretation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to follow established safety, environmental, and operating procedures.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in industrial/manufacturing environments.
- Ability to climb approximately 15-foot ladders at least five times per shift.
- Ability to perform hands-on activities involving environmental systems, equipment, valves, lines, filters, ponds, and related plant operations.
- Must be comfortable working in varying outdoor conditions.
Preferred Backgrounds
Candidates with experience as an Environmental Technician, Laboratory Technician, Chemical Technician, Manufacturing Lab Technician, Wastewater/Water Treatment Technician, or
Industrial/Environmental Technician are encouraged to apply.
