Job description:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Program Director (APD) for our residential Eating Disorder Treatment Programs in Monroe, NC.


Primary Function

The Assistant Program Director (APD) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program, ensuring each shift is fully staffed, organized, and running effectively. The APD provides direct supervision to frontline staff, promotes accountability, maintains operational standards, and supports a positive team culture while ensuring high-quality client care.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the program to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent service delivery.
  • Manage staff scheduling, attendance, time-off requests, overtime, and daily shift coverage.
  • Supervise, coach, and support direct-care staff while fostering a positive, accountable team culture.
  • Complete onboarding, training, competency validation, performance evaluations, and ongoing staff development.
  • Ensure daily treatment schedules, groups, meals, activities, transportation, and resident routines are carried out as planned.
  • Monitor the therapeutic milieu, behavioral expectations, meal support, and respond to behavioral or operational concerns.
  • Review documentation, incident reports, and required records to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Maintain routine communication with families and collaborate with clinical and support departments to coordinate care.
  • Ensure the program environment is safe, organized, well-stocked, and operationally ready each day.
  • Serve as Acting Program Director during absences and participate in the leadership on-call rotation.
  • Maintain accountability for daily operations, staffing, employee performance, documentation quality, and overall program effectiveness.

Skills

  • Extensive experience working within a residential behavioral health setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing budgets, staffing schedules, and regulatory documentation.
  • Effective leadership qualities that inspire teamwork while maintaining high standards of resident-centered care.
  • Familiarity with medication administration protocols and safety regulations within healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrated understanding of social work principles related to eldercare or developmental disabilities support services.
