Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our team on a contract basis in Countryside, Illinois. This role focuses on estate administration and involves supporting attorneys with tasks from the initiation of estates and trusts to their final distribution. If you have a strong background in probate and estate administration, this position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful legal work in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and file essential probate documents, including petitions, notices, inventories, accountings, and final reports.
• Assist in the opening and closing of estates within probate court procedures.
• Communicate effectively with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and government agencies to ensure smooth estate administration.
• Collect, organize, and appraise estate assets while tracking associated expenses and liabilities.
• Draft deeds, affidavits, and other documentation needed for real estate transfers.
• Monitor and manage deadlines for court filings, tax submissions, and other critical requirements.
• Compose correspondence and detailed status reports for clients and other interested parties.
• Aid in the preparation and filing of estate, fiduciary income, and inheritance tax returns when required.
• Maintain organized and accurate client files in alignment with firm policies and legal standards.
• Provide support with trust administration tasks, including trust funding and beneficiary distributions.• Proven experience in probate and estate administration, including familiarity with court filings and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, beneficiaries, and related parties.
• Proficiency in drafting legal documents such as deeds, affidavits, and court submissions.
• Knowledge of tax filing requirements related to estates and trusts.
• Detail-oriented mindset to ensure compliance with legal standards and firm policies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and support attorneys effectively.
• Competence in maintaining accurate records and handling sensitive client information.
