Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Project Manager serves as the primary owner of assigned manufacturing projects from initiation through completion. This individual is responsible for driving all aspects of project execution — including schedule development, materials readiness, and on-time delivery — while acting as the sole point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders on their assigned projects. This role requires strong organizational skills, proactive communication, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule Development

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules from kick-off through delivery, including milestones, critical path analysis, and resource timelines.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to establish realistic timelines aligned with capacity and capability.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, identify deviations early, and implement corrective actions to maintain project commitments.
  • Communicate schedule updates and risks proactively to all relevant stakeholders.

Materials Availability

  • Ensure all required materials, components, and supplies are identified, sourced, and available ahead of production start dates.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to manage lead times, track purchase orders, and resolve material shortages.
  • Anticipate and mitigate supply chain risks that could impact production schedules or delivery commitments.
  • Maintain accurate bills of materials and support inventory planning activities for assigned projects.

On-Time Delivery

  • Drive accountability across all functions to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Track and report project status against delivery commitments, escalating issues where necessary to ensure resolution.
  • Coordinate logistics and final shipment planning to ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and implement improvements for future projects.

Single Point of Contact

  • Serve as the sole point of contact for all matters related to assigned projects, representing the organization with customers, suppliers, and internal leadership.
  • Own all project communications, ensuring stakeholders receive accurate, timely, and consistent information throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate project meetings, manage action items, and drive decisions to closure without unnecessary escalation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal teams, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3–5+ years of project management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and supply chain fundamentals.
  • Proficient in project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions under pressure.
