Our matrimonial law firm is seeking a highly organized and experienced professional to join our team. This role combines high-level paralegal substantive work with essential legal assistant support. You will be the backbone of our divorce cases, ensuring both the legal documents and the office operations run seamlessly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Substantive Paralegal Support:
- Draft and prepare Case Information Statements (CIS) and complex discovery requests/responses.
- Manage the end-to-end Discovery process, including gathering, analyzing, and organizing voluminous financial documents.
- Assist in Trial Preparation, including creating exhibit binders, notebooks, and managing evidence.
- Coordinate the preparation and filing of QDROs.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, providing case updates and maintaining professional relationships.
Administrative & Litigation Support:
- Manage the attorney's calendars, monitoring all court deadlines and scheduling appearances.
- Format legal documents and electronically file them via JEDS.
- Screen and direct incoming calls; communicate with clients, law offices and courts
- Maintain meticulous physical and electronic filing systems.
- Handle daily office operations, including scanning, mail, and ordering supplies to ensure a functional workspace.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated MATRIMONIAL law experience (Required).
- Education: At minimum, Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Certification: Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal program (Preferred).
- Skills: Proficiency in JEDS and legal document formatting.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
