As a key leader on our Architectural team, you’ll collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal teams to bring educational visions to life. You’ll help guide junior architects and designers, shape building systems that meet real-world needs, and serve as a lead Architect on projects that matter. From concept to construction, your work will directly impact communities and continue to elevate our reputation for excellence in the K–12 space.
The Senior Project Architect will work out of our Midwest Business Unit, located in Edina, MN. Some travel will be required within the Midwest region. Travel may include but is not limited to client meetings, site visits, field verifications, and building assessments.
The salary range is $130,000-$170,000. The salary may vary within the range based on factors such as location of the role, and a candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs assignments with responsibility for general technical design including evaluation and recommendation for design.
- Exercises independent judgement within the execution of design work.
- Performs complex technical work, deploying a broad knowledge base and skills developed via extensive experience.
- Shows willingness to continue to learn and grow in the profession of Architecture.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit. Able to model complex architectural conditions independently, if needed.
- Advanced ability to provide architectural design specifications.
- Independently performs complex analysis for unique circumstances, including building code.
- Leads in the preparation of accurate architectural deliverables aligned with SIQ standards.
- Provides advanced feedback and redlines on design documentation, and QA/QC.
- Shares a strong ability as a subject matter expert, with clear evidence of a valued specialization within the Architecture field.
- Coordinates architectural work with other design disciplines.
- Continuing awareness of industry trends and ongoing understanding of new developments.
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to staff.
- Assists the Director of Architecture as a technical specialist or advisor as needed.
SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT QUALIFICATIONS
- Required
- Professional NAAB-accredited architecture degree, with Registered Architect status.
- NCARB reciprocity towards multiple jurisdictions.
- 10+ years of experience in the field of Architecture, or equivalent.
- Advanced knowledge of local and national building codes.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Autodesk Revit software, via a portfolio of work.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design teams.
- Preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.
- Relevant K-12 project experience.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk. The employee must rarely lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or small packages. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
