This is a contingent position, meaning employment is dependent upon the successful award of the associated contract to Aretum and completion of any required background investigation or security clearance verification.

Job Summary
The System Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management, reliability, and security of the development, test, and production environments supporting a mission-critical information system and its associated sub-applications. This role ensures that servers, workstations, software platforms, and system configurations are maintained in accordance with approved technical standards, configuration management requirements, and federal security policies.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day operational management and user support for development, test, and production environments supporting the enterprise information system.
- Maintaining maximum system uptime and reliability across all supported environments.
- Managing and renewing security certificates for application systems and external-facing sites prior to expiration.
- Imaging and configuring baseline development workstations for technical staff and maintaining approved integrated development environments (IDEs).
- Managing and administering servers and virtual environments supporting development, test, and production systems.
- Ensuring that development and test environments mirror production environments for configuration consistency and reliability.
- Performing system patching, virus updates, and routine system maintenance in accordance with continuous monitoring requirements.
- Supporting assessment and authorization (A&A) activities for the enterprise information system.
- Assisting with the maintenance and updates of required security documentation, including system security plans (SSP), privacy impact assessments (PIA), and IT contingency plans.
- Ensuring system configurations adhere to approved federal and departmental technical standards.
- Monitoring and maintaining system security posture to ensure compliance with risk thresholds and security performance requirements.
- Initiating approved purchase orders for hardware and software acquisitions in support of system operations.
- Supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery preparedness activities.
- Coordinating with database administrators and application developers to ensure system compatibility and operational readiness.
- Supporting regression testing and production release activities related to system changes.
- Assisting with troubleshooting and resolution of system-level incidents and operational issues.
- Supporting continuous monitoring and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Maintaining documentation related to system configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance (or higher).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in system administration supporting enterprise or mission-critical information systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced Windows Server administration, Group Policy, Active Directory (AD) management, DNS, and DHCP.
- In-depth knowledge of Internet Information Services (IIS) (version 7.5+), Application Pools configuration, and troubleshooting .NET application errors, including familiarity with .NET Framework and .NET Core runtimes.
- Proficient PowerShell scripting for automating server tasks, software deployment, and user management.
- Azure AD, Azure Virtual Machines, and managing hybrid environments, along with virtualization platforms like Hyper-V or VMware.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins) for deployment support, and understanding .NET project structures.
- Patch management, endpoint security, firewall configuration, and performance monitoring/logging (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel).
- Demonstrated experience managing development, test, and production environments.
- Experience administering servers, virtual environments, and development workstations.
- Experience performing system patching, maintenance, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Experience supporting assessment and authorization (A&A) processes.
- Experience managing system security certificates and configuration standards.
- Working knowledge of configuration management, version control, and change control processes.
- Experience supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
- Familiarity with federal information system documentation requirements and SDLC artifacts.
