Field Service Technician
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician with expertise in electro-mechanical systems, PLC, and HMI to join our dynamic team. a leading provider of industrial automation solutions, delivering cutting-edge technology to optimize manufacturing and production processes.
Job Summary
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial automation equipment at customer sites. This role requires strong electro-mechanical skills, hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), and the ability to work independently in fast-paced industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and Commissioning: Install and configure, and modify automation equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, vision systems, robotic systems, and other motion control systems, ensuring proper integration with existing systems.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve electro-mechanical and control system issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal equipment performance.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on automation systems to ensure reliability and compliance with safety standards.
- PLC and HMI: Modify, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC programs and HMI interfaces (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) to meet customer requirements.
- Customer Support: Provide on-site and remote technical support, training customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate service reports, documenting work performed, parts used, and system configurations.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including OSHA standards, and ensure customer sites meet regulatory requirements.
- Travel: Travel to customer sites (local/regional/national/some international).
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree or technical certification in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role in industrial automation.
- Proven experience and ability with electro-mechanical machines.
- The ability to diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot wiring diagrams, and modify controls.
- PLC and HMI navigation, make minor changes, and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Hands-on experience with HMI systems (e.g., FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Ignition).
- Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, including motors, drives, and control circuits.
- The ability to write, program PLC, HMI code is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and robotics is a plus.
- AutoCAD experience with panel layouts and wiring schematics
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30, CompTIA A+, or manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Rockwell Automation) are a plus.
- Travel Requirements: Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time. When not travelling you will be on-site Monday through Thursday, home Friday.

This position requires 3 plus years similar experience. Associates degree, BS Engineering, US citizenship, green card, perm resident is required. A generous salary of $35.00 to $40.00 hourly with a W2 of $90,000 plus. PTO, 401k, and medical benefits will be provided.
