$22 – $25 / hour

OVERVIEW
A mission-driven affordable housing organization is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Facilities Technician II to support the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of owned and operated residential properties.
This role is essential to ensuring safe, functional, and well-maintained housing environments for individuals and families working to break the cycle of homelessness. The ideal candidate has strong experience with unit turnovers, mechanical systems, and hands-on building maintenance, along with the professionalism and empathy needed to work in supportive housing settings.
This is a full-time role with a consistent weekday schedule and participation in an on-call rotation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance across multiple residential properties
• Support unit turns, including repairs, inspections, and move-in readiness work
• Repair and replace damaged fixtures such as blinds, screens, ceiling tiles, doors, furniture, and hardware
• Install shelving, signage, racks, whiteboards, and other building fixtures as needed
• Assist with plumbing and mechanical maintenance, including:

  • Inspecting and changing belts
  • Checking fluid levels
  • Replacing filters
  • Clearing clogged drains
  • Supporting minor plumbing repairs not requiring licensure

• Maintain lighting and alarm systems, ensuring proper disposal of used lamps and ballasts
• Complete landscaping and seasonal duties, including snow removal and operation of plow/sander equipment
• Perform custodial work such as bathroom cleaning, mopping floors, trash removal, and transporting large items
• Respond to emergencies and serve as first point of contact during on-call shifts
• Monitor weather conditions and ensure safe, clear building entrances during adverse conditions
• Respond to system alarms, reset systems, and take corrective action when required
• Follow all safety, security, and SOP protocols, reporting hazards and addressing building safety concerns
• Track and communicate facilities needs through work orders, logbooks, and electronic systems
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and ensure tools and equipment remain in good working condition
• Supervise, train, and coach Facilities Associates and Technician I staff as assigned
• Coordinate and communicate with vendors and contractors on larger facilities projects
• Complete additional duties as needed to support the facilities team

WHAT IT TAKES

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3+ years of property maintenance experience, including residential unit turnovers
  • Ability to travel between multiple property locations
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance trades and repair best practices
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Comfortable working in both hot and cold environments
  • Skilled with hand tools and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving, judgment, and diagnostic skills
  • Customer-service mindset with the ability to defuse challenging situations professionally
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across departments
  • Experience working in affordable or supportive housing settings
  • Experience operating a plow truck in residential environments
  • Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems
