Farm Equipment Mechanic ( Ag Mechanic )
- Maintenance: They perform routine maintenance tasks like inspections, lubrication, filter replacements, and fluid changes to keep machinery ( tractors, combines, sprayers, balers and attachments) in optimal condition.
- Diagnosis and Repair: When equipment malfunctions, they troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and perform necessary repairs or component replacements. They work on a wide array of systems, including engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions.
- Testing and Calibration: After repairs, they test and calibrate machinery to ensure it meets performance standards and operates safely.
- Documentation and Record-keeping: They maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Specialized Expertise: They may specialize in particular types of farm equipment such as tractors, combines, harvesters, sprayers, or irrigation systems.
- Adapting to Technology: As farming technology evolves, they must stay updated with new equipment models, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.
