Role Description The Doctors Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Asheville, NC, supporting eye care providers in delivering efficient and high-quality patient care. Day-to-day responsibilities include greeting patients, verifying and updating medical and vision information, and preparing patients for eye exams. The role involves performing pre-testing procedures, operating diagnostic equipment as directed, and accurately recording exam findings in practice systems. The Doctors Technician coordinates patient flow, assists with scheduling and follow-up appointments, and works closely with optometrists and optical staff to ensure a smooth clinic experience. This role requires a strong focus on patient communication, attention to detail, adherence to clinical protocols, and collaboration within a fast-paced retail clinic setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in patient-facing or customer service roles, preferably in healthcare or optical retail, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to learn and operate diagnostic and clinical equipment, follow exam protocols, and accurately document patient information in electronic systems.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage patient flow and multitask in a busy clinic environment.

  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with scheduling software or electronic health records.

  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and commitment to delivering a positive patient experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience as a medical or optical technician is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Willingness to receive on-the-job training, follow safety and infection control guidelines, and comply with all company policies and procedures.
