Career Overview
The Manager of Network Planning will be responsible for the oversight, planning, budgeting, and project timing for network growth, modernization, consolidation, and advancement needs in a fiber focused business. As a Network Planning Manager, there are additional responsibilities for vendor oversite and performance management. The Manager ensures effective use of company funds to identify, budget, time, and build a flexible fiber-based network. The Manager is responsible for keeping the team aligned on the optimal network distribution solutions and establishing and managing key team metrics. The Manager will be accountable to effectively creating and managing network build programs related to FTTP deriving from community development, grant programs, and other development programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop both short and long-term market strategies for network investment and evolution to support client demands
- Drive comprehensive network analysis
- Drive proactive planning that supports infrastructure strategies and community development
- Drive optimal project architecture solutions while balancing the customer experience, cost, scalability, and reliability
- Drive implementation of solutions to solve capacity constraints prior to network exhaust
- Support Sales as needed to develop solutions and occasionally work directly with customers
- Lead overall project costing and support business case development
- Guide partner organizations/suppliers to successfully implement solutions
- Drive network and process advancement
- Provide technical guidance and input on technologies for implementation and consideration
- Develop and implement strong infrastructure deployment strategies across multiple disciplines, such as outside plant, network, and service drop delivery.

Education, Training, Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Communications, Telecommunications, GIS, or Computer Science desirable
- 5+ years of Telecommunication network experience required
- 2+ years of Managerial experience required
- The qualified candidate will need to have a broad network understanding
- Access networks
- FTTP/FTTN
- PON and P2P Ethernet
- Ethernet Services
- Long Haul, Mid Mile, and Feeder/Distribution facilities
- Customer Premise solutions
- Outside Plant (OSP) architectures consisting of underground, direct buried, aerial, and building applications.
- In-depth understanding of PON architectures to include centralized and distributed splits greenfield MDU/SFU, and inside wiring solutions
- GIS experience desirable with platforms such as ARC GIS and QGIS
- Understanding of construction-based drawing systems
- Proficiency in common offices tools such as Excel, Work, Powerpoint
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross functionally to achieve positive outcomes
- Operate from a customer centered mindset
- Works well in a team environment driven by partnerships
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Availability and Travel Requirements
Position requires on call and 24-hour availability
Frequent travel is required

Driving a company car may be required: must have a current, state issued drivers license with a clean driving record; must be able to provide proof of valid drivers license and insurance
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50+ pounds
The ability to move safely over uneven terrain
