Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other transfer devices.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to care plans and dietary restrictions, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Administer medications safely following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration activities thoroughly.
- Support residents during community outings or activities, encouraging social engagement and participation in recreational programs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas, laundry, and general sanitation tasks.
- Follow individualized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to meet each resident’s unique needs, including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, autism support, or hospice care.
- Observe patient behaviors carefully for signs of distress or health issues, providing timely reports to supervisors or healthcare providers.
- Use proper techniques for heavy lifting and transfers to ensure safety for both residents and staff.
- Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive resident information.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism enhances your ability to provide specialized support.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and assisting with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts safely.
- Strong observational skills for patient safety and behavior monitoring are necessary for success in this role.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed.
