Make a difference in the lives of students as a contract Special Education Teacher in a dynamic district setting. Positions are available for both Elementary Self-Contained and High School Exceptional Education classrooms, with the greatest immediate need focused on self-contained elementary groups. You’ll work on-site, with classrooms generally serving 4-6 students, ensuring individualized attention and specialized support. The school team is ready to welcome educators committed to fostering growth and educational progress in every learner.
Key Qualifications:
- Current SPED (Exceptional Education) licensure in Alabama
- Endorsement matching age group: K-6 for elementary roles, 6-12 for secondary
- Experience with self-contained classrooms is highly valued
- Passion for adapting curriculum to diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff and families
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide targeted instruction and adaptive strategies
- Utilize positive behavior interventions and supports
- Track student progress, document data, and participate in team meetings
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

- Contract dates: August 6, 2026 – May 27, 2027
- 37.5 hours per week, full-time
- Onsite interviews will be held by the district at their Birmingham location
