Lead Mechanic - White Bear Lake, MN.
Day Shift | Monday–Friday | No Nights or Weekends
$32–$38/hr
We’re looking for a hands-on Lead Technician to run the floor and keep our fleet safe and road-ready.
This is not a corporate dealership job. We’re a non-profit organization with a true family-shop feel. Our long-time Lead Mechanic is retiring, and we need someone who can step up, take ownership, and lead from the front.
No shop manager above you. You report directly to executive leadership. If you’ve ever said, “If I ran this place...” — here’s your chance.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Gas-powered E-350 & E-450 buses and vans
- Passenger lift systems
- Preventative maintenance
- Brakes, suspension, ball joints
- Electrical diagnostics
- A/C systems
- Driver write-ups and road-readiness repairs
- DOT compliance

What This Role Really Is
This is a working foreman position.
You will:
- Turn wrenches daily
- Be the go-to tech for diagnostics
- Direct and inspect work of other mechanics
- Coach 2 younger techs and support a small team
- Prioritize jobs and keep workflow moving
- Work with leadership on parts ordering, pricing, and billing
- Make sure everything leaving the shop is safe
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of shop experience (light/medium-duty trucks or buses)
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong diagnostic ability
- Comfortable using a computer for work orders and communication
- Own basic tools
- Team-first attitude — no ego, no drama
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
No nights. No weekends.
Go home on time.
