Tripco is looking for a Head of People to lead our people strategy and operations, ensuring our team is supported and empowered to do their best work while embodying the values we bring to our customers. You will shape our People vision, optimise organisational structures, and build scalable programs that drive performance and engagement across both our call centre and technical teams.

This role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader who can navigate complex challenges with flexibility. You'll partner closely with the executive team to align People initiatives with business objectives while building a strong foundation for future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team on all People-related matters. Translate business strategy into effective people programs that drive organisational success and scale.
  • People Team Leadership: Lead, develop and mentor the People team, ensuring a high-performing function that delivers exceptional service to the business and employees.
  • Compliance: Ensure the company meets all statutory and regulatory requirements, including Employment Equity reporting, WSP/ATR submissions, and other necessary obligations.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations matters with empathy, ensuring compliance with company policies and South African labour laws, while fostering positive workplace relationships.
  • Employee Experience & Performance: Shape and drive the employee experience, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture that attracts, engages, and retains top talent.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Manage competitive compensation structures and benefits programs. Conduct market analyses to ensure Tripco remains competitive.
  • Leadership Development: Build and implement leadership programs that strengthen our management capabilities across the organisation, with particular focus on developing operations team leads.
  • Performance Management: Partner with managers to ensure performance management processes are seamlessly executed, supporting managers with feedback, coaching, and development plans to enhance team productivity and growth.
  • Talent Strategy: Oversee the talent strategy to address attraction, development, and retention.
  • Tech and Process Innovation: Keep abreast of HR tech and automation to enhance operational efficiency, employee experience, and scalability.
  • People Analytics: Leverage data to measure the effectiveness of people programs and initiatives, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to continuously improve the employee experience.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in People/HR roles (4+ years in leadership), with a track record of building and scaling people operations.
  • Experience supporting diverse workforce populations, including call centre operations and technical/corporate teams.
  • Experience handling complex employee relations issues.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to high-level discussions while also executing tactical initiatives that drive success. Comfortable working in both big-picture and detail-oriented roles.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence at the executive level, positioning people initiatives as business enablers.
  • Expertise in recruiting, attracting, and retaining world-class talent. You understand that great teams start with great people, and you know how to create a seamless candidate experience and efficient hiring processes.
  • Data-driven approach to decision-making with ability to leverage people analytics to demonstrate impact and guide strategy.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with ability to build trust across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience implementing people systems and processes that scale with the business.
