Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Sparks, MD
Schedule: C Shift – Friday–Sunday, 5:45 AM–6:00 PM
Pay Rate: $35.00/hr

Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Engineering Manager or Production Supervisor and is responsible for routine and advanced setup, operation, preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting of highly complex and automated manufacturing equipment. This position supports production by ensuring optimal equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and maintaining quality standards.

The role requires strong mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical aptitude, along with the ability to use judgment and technical knowledge to solve complex problems. A positive attitude, strong team orientation, and effective decision-making skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine setup, operation, and maintenance (minor and major) on highly automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PM), inspections, adjustments, and repairs on production and facilities-related machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems to resolve equipment issues and restore functionality.
  • Analyze technical problems using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Monitor equipment performance to maintain production efficiency, quality, and waste reduction targets.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, calibration techniques, and trades mathematics in daily tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately and communicate status updates to the team.
  • Support team goals by working collaboratively and adapting to changing tasks and priorities.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to operate a PC and use MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Demonstrated skill in:
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Using a multimeter
  • Sensor technology
  • Basic fluid and pneumatic plumbing
  • Power transmission systems (gearboxes, motors, belt/chain drives)
  • Electrical troubleshooting (low-level signals up to 480 VAC)
  • Ability to work with accuracy and precision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work on various equipment, processes, and assignments as needed.

Preferred Experience

  • Troubleshooting industrial control systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, VFDs, servo systems, etc.).
  • Proficiency with PLCs, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Mechanical design experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Basic machining, welding, and fabrication skills (mill, lathe, welding, bearing press).
