Service Manager - Commercial & Industrial HVAC (Asheville, NC)
Job Description
Job Description
Service Manager - Commercial & Industrial HVAC
Asheville, North Carolina | Full-Time
We want a business leader who runs service, not a technician who ended up behind a desk.
A long-established commercial and industrial HVAC company in Asheville, now part of a growing multi-state HVAC and building services platform. We serve distribution centers, industrial plants, universities, healthcare facilities, and more. The team is small. The growth plan is aggressive.
The person in this seat grows the service business. You sell, you own the numbers, and you make quick, sound decisions.
What you will actually do
• Own the financials for the service department and hit the monthly number.
• Grow revenue. Build and present repair quotes, expand maintenance agreements, and deepen customer relationships.
• Hire, schedule, coach, and evaluate the service team, with regular one-on-ones.
• Put the right technician on the right job, spot training needs, and support dispatch.
• Deliver service projects, maintenance agreements, and repairs on time and on budget.
• Track maintenance contracts and contract hours so nothing slips and nothing overruns.
• Fix customer issues fast.
• Lead a safety-first team and report on operations, inventory, tools, and vehicles.
• Get on a call and back up a technician when it counts, including after hours.
What this job is not
This is not a reward for the longest-tenured tech. Field credibility matters. Business judgment matters more.
What you need to have done
• 5-7+ years managing people in commercial HVAC or mechanical services, or field work with real supervisory responsibility.
• Managed a P&L.
• Estimated and presented service quotes. A sales instinct is a real plus.
• Led a safety-focused team.
• The maturity to lead people who may be older and more experienced than you. Drive matters more than tenure here.
• EPA certification and HVAC industry experience preferred.
• A valid driver's license and comfort in Microsoft Office.
Service coordinators, service foremen, and service leads who are ready to step up are encouraged to apply.
What we pay
• $90,000-$120,000 base salary.
• A 15% bonus plan with an accelerator up to 150% of potential. A typical service manager earns $20,000-$25,000 in bonus.
• Company vehicle or allowance, plus phone or phone allowance.
• Healthcare including some 100% company-paid plans, a 401(k) with a 5% match, life insurance, and disability coverage.
• Up to four weeks of paid time off, plus paid holidays.
Where this goes
The company invests in training, education assistance, and a defined progression path. Leadership here is building the team for growth, and this seat is central to it.
