Job Description:
- Leads day-to-day activities of manufacturing mechanic team members.
- Under the direction of the Manufacturing Mechanic Supervisor/Manager, leads shift operations in the repair, maintenance, and modification of production and support equipment on all operating lines.
- Maximizes productivity and quality with regard to changeovers, set-ups, installation, and running adjustments on the production lines.
- Assists with training department personnel in the daily operations and promotes company culture in the working environment.
- Holds team members accountable to approved policies and procedures including professionalism, safety, and cleanliness of the work environment.
- Specification of the necessary graduation and vocational training considering recent educational requirements which are needed to fulfil the above-mentioned tasks of the position.
Responsibilities:
- To assist the Supervisor, on a day to day basis, in the management of maintenance activities and, when necessary or appropriate, delegate maintenance activity responsibility for their respective shift.
- Assist in the monitoring and management of PM activities.
- Examine equipment to identify mechanical malfunctions and recommend alternatives to resolve problems.
- Assist supervision to identify individual and departmental skill / process training opportunities.
- Monitor the daily activities of production mechanics, providing priority guidance as defined by the manufacturing department.
- Review machine efficiencies to ensure they meet or exceed minimum standards.
- Train line personnel and mechanical trainees to use and repair equipment.
- Assist line changeovers, set-ups, and fine tuning of equipment including weight adjustments.
- Highlight Continuous Improvement opportunities for consideration.
- Monitor equipment performance and communicate the necessary corrections for improvement to supervision and the mechanic staff.
- Actively communicate with other manufacturing mechanic group leaders during shift changes to identify shift concerns or transition information on line status.
- Assist the reliability manager in the day-to-day management of maintenance activities and, when necessary, delegate maintenance responsibilities for the respective shift.
- Ensure smooth communication with other manufacturing mechanic group leaders and operations during shift changes to address any concerns, provide status updates, and transition information regarding line operations
- Assist with line changeovers, set-ups, repair and fine-tuning of equipment, including weight adjustments, and examine equipment to identify mechanical malfunctions, recommending alternatives to resolve any issues
- Assist supervision in identifying individual and departmental skill/process training opportunities, and train line personnel and mechanical trainees on the proper use and repair of equipment
- Monitor equipment performance and communicate the necessary corrections for improvement to supervision and the mechanic staff.
- Highlight Continuous Improvement opportunities for consideration.
Requirements:
- Experienced in maintenance with a good understanding of production equipment.
- Proper use of a multi-meter, math skills, and effective troubleshooting skills are required.
- Must be able to read and sketch mechanical drawings.
- A familiarity with programmable controllers is desired.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate good motivational and communication skills.
- Overall work experience (years) High school diploma or equivalent required and previous Manufacturing Mechanic experience, minimum 2 years, required.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required and previous Manufacturing Mechanic experience, minimum 2 years, required.
- Associates degree in Mechanical Design Engineering Technology or related field desired.
