Ensures that woodshop procedures and processes are optimized, re-engineers processes to achieve standardization. Directs and coordinates the day to day activities of all woodshops. This includes supervision of the woodshop staff, related systems and woodshop supplies, sanitation and maintenance. Also, shares responsibility for new products development and prototypes that involve woodworking. This position is also responsible for the supply management for the woodshops to ensure that NT’s needs, objectives and quality standards are met.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Manage and coordinate activities of the woodshops. Manage production cycle and workflow. Responsible for the logistics of all items received and shipped from the woodshops Assist in production and prototyping as needed.

2. Help create and maintain operations data such as time, production and cost records; work with the Quality Department to create reports of assembly times and production results.

3. Ensure accuracy of supply records by conducting periodic physical or cycle counts and notifying responsible employees to re-order when necessary.

4. Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees to improve production methods, improve equipment performance, product quality and efficiency.

5. Conceptualize, systematize, and document best practice woodshop management processes.

6. Manage and mentor staff; determine staffing requirements: interview, hire and train new employees as needed.

7. Maintain good working relationships with other Native Trails team members.

8. Ensure that all quality related needs are met by identifying and correcting problems immediately.

Education/Experience

· High School diploma or equivalent experience

· At least 5 years’ experience in a cabinet shop or similar environment

· Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

· Understanding/working knowledge of raw materials i.e. characterization/effect on development/manufacturing environment.

· Technical skills. Ability to understand formulations/procedures.

· Mechanical aptitude, understanding equipment and operation functionality.

· Production troubleshooting abilities.

· Project management skill set. Must be able to multitask. Self starter, ability to achieve goals without supervision.

· Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity.

· Ability to function as an effective team member and/or leader.

· Ability to adapt to the external environment as the function and organization evolve/changes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; works in high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions and warehouse environment and may be subject to seasonal temperature conditions.

Work Environment

In the course of fulfilling the responsibilities associated with this position, the employee is routinely expected to stand, walk, utilize their hands, extend their hands and arms, and engage in verbal communication or listen. Additionally, the employee is often required to sit. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb or maintain balance. The ambient noise level in the workplace is typically high.
