Job Title: Lifeguard
Reports To: Head and Lead Lifeguards
Qualifications: Must have one year of lifeguard experience. Must have CPR and Advance lifesaving certifications. Must get along well with people especially children. Should have good organizational skills. Must be professional, mature, honest and trustworthy.
Role Description: The lifeguard is responsible for the safety of the members and their guests while in and around the pool area. While on duty the lifeguard represents the San Antonio Country Club. They must always portray a professional attitude whenever dealing with a member or guest. Their main priority is safety, but they also need to maintain a clean, healthy and fun environment as well.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of the members:
- Enforce pool rules and regulations.
- Practice preventative lifeguarding.
- Be alert and attentive while on the job.
- Correct inappropriate member/guest behavior or alert supervisor of problem.
Be Professional:
- Have a positive attitude toward work, pool staff and members.
- Know the Chain of Command.
- Carry out commands from pool managers, supervisors, and Club managers.
- Follow all pool rules and regulations (the same rules members must follow).
- For every shift worked, guards are allotted a 30-minute meal break at the discretion of the supervisor on duty.
- Always wear appropriate uniform when guarding.
- Hourly breaks are from the hour to 10-minutes after the hour only.
- A guard will be on the shallow lifeguard stand except during hourly breaks.
- If more than 5 members/guests are in the deep end area, a second lifeguard must be at the point.
- If anyone is using the diving board, then a second guard is needed at the deep end.
- Substitution changes must have the approval of the Pool Manager.
- All other duties as directed by supervisor or manager of the Club.
