Step into a dynamic educational setting and offer vital communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter in a full-time, contract opportunity for the upcoming school year. This position provides valuable one-on-one interpreting services, ensuring equitable access to learning for a student within a supportive K-12 environment.

As an integral part of the student’s educational team, you will collaborate closely with teachers, support personnel, and family, facilitating classroom discussion, group activities, and individualized instruction. Your expertise will help bridge communication and foster inclusion, impacting a student’s academic and social success throughout the year.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Valid Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License
  • Proven experience working as an SLI in educational settings (preferred)
  • Exceptional proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional standards
  • Ability to adapt interpreting methods to meet individual student’s needs

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide direct, one-on-one sign language interpretation for a student during classroom instruction and extracurricular activities
  • Serve as a communication liaison between student, peers, teachers, and other staff
  • Adjust interpreting style as needed to support comprehension and engagement
  • Participate in IEP meetings and planning sessions as a trusted team member
  • Maintain accurate logs of services delivered and contribute insights to support educational progress

This contract runs from August 10, 2026, through June 17, 2027, following a full-time school schedule. You’ll find yourself in a collaborative, values-driven environment dedicated to every learner’s success.
