Job Title: Cashier
Department: Front End
Reports To: Front End Manager
Role Summary
Provides fast, accurate, and friendly service at checkout to form a strong last impression on the customer. Ensures all transactions are handled efficiently and supports smooth front-end operations.
Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet every customer in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer questions about products, promotions, and store services.
- Maintain a helpful, respectful, and solution-oriented attitude.
- Promote the customer loyalty program and assist with sign-ups.
Transaction Processing
- Scan items quickly and accurately for purchase.
- Handle cash, credit, debit, and EBT transactions with accuracy.
- Issue correct change and receipts to customers.
- Follow all company cash-handling and register-balancing procedures.
Maintenance & Safety
- Keep register area clean, organized, and stocked with supplies (bags, receipt paper, sanitizer, etc.).
- Remain attentive at the register to deter theft or loss.
- Report equipment or safety issues promptly to a supervisor.
- Follow all store policies for safety, cleanliness, and conduct.
Qualifications
- Friendly and reliable with strong attention to detail.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Prior retail or customer service experience preferred.
