Field Engineering Technician

Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Installation/Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for installations & maintenance of Automated Photo Enforced Systems; involves system configuration setup, cabling, equipment testing, image quality adjustments, equipment maintenance and record completion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts pre-build and system setup: PC, Cameras, storage, router, and all other ancillary equipment for Automated Photo Enforced Systems
- Stages, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and services mechanical and electrical equipment on new installations.
- Follows company engineering procedures and guidelines in the installation of photo enforcement equipment in the field.
- Programs and configures photo enforcement equipment.
- Acts as liaison with local engineering office and contractors regarding site set up and installations. (This would include guidance from Installation/Maintenance Manager)
- Performs and documents daily system quality evaluations and adjustments.
- Coordinates with power, communication and utility locating utilities as required.
- Drives and maintains company vehicles, including cars and/or bucket trucks.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed and informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems.
- Maintains equipment performance and maintenance records and logs, including installation configurations in checklists and diagrams and updating company maintenance modules.
- Monitors and update’s fault tracking systems according to internal policy/procedures.
- Assists with surveys and traffic studies as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Associate Degree in a technical field with 1 year of relevant field service experience.
or
- Training courses and certificates in electronics and technical systems with at least 2 years of relevant field service experience.
- Knowledge of IP-based cameras.
- General knowledge of IP networking.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Desktop, web browsers, etc.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles.
- Proficient experience with hand tools and measuring instruments, including multimeter.
- General understanding of structured cabling.
- Ability to work without supervision consistently performing duties to company standards.
- Fluent in English. Spanish-bilingual preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass a criminal background check and a drug test.

Working Conditions
Able to work in varying outdoor weather conditions. The job requires moderate physical activity: must be able to carry and transport loads up to 50 lbs. periodically. Must be able to see 20/20 vision with correction and differentiate colors between light signals. Must be willing to work in high voltage areas; at various heights: bucket trucks, ladders, etc. Works occasional evenings and weekends based on job demands.
