Part-Time Maintenance Technician
Bastion Property Management is looking to hire a reliable, part-time Maintenance Technician / Handyman to help service single-family rental homes throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.
This role will assist with general maintenance, rental turns, punch-list repairs, tenant work orders, property inspections, and light computer-based work within our property management systems. The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, comfortable working in occupied rental homes, and able to complete quality work while properly documenting repairs, updates, and property conditions.
The ideal candidate will have a broad handyman skill set and be comfortable handling common rental property repairs. Licensed trade experience is a major plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Complete general handyman and maintenance repairs at rental properties
- Handle common rental property repairs, including basic plumbing, drywall, painting, caulking, lock changes, doors, trim, fixtures, and similar items
- Assist with rental turns and rent-ready punch lists
- Complete move-in and move-out inspections
- Document property condition with clear photos and notes
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and report findings
- Take clear before, during, and after photos of work completed
- Complete photo reporting of maintenance issues, property conditions, and completed repairs
- Update and track work orders in our property management software
- Add notes, photos, receipts, time entries, and completion updates to each work order
- Communicate professionally with tenants, vendors, and Bastion staff
- Work with administrative staff to keep systems, files, and work orders updated
- Track time, materials, mileage, and job notes for each assignment
- Notify management before completing work that exceeds approved limits
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Requirements
- Prior handyman, maintenance, construction, or rental property experience preferred
- Reliable transportation required
- Basic tools preferred
- Ability to travel between rental properties throughout the Greater Cincinnati area
- Comfortable using a phone, computer, email, photos, apps, and property management software
- Ability to upload photos, update work orders, and document job progress
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Must be dependable, organized, and professional with tenants
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently
- Trade licenses are a huge plus, including licensed plumber, licensed electrician, HVAC certification, or similar skilled trade credentials
Schedule & Pay
This is a part-time hourly position with flexible scheduling based on maintenance volume.
Pay: $25–$30 per hour based on experience, reliability, skill level, and ability to work independently.
Mileage: Mileage reimbursement is available for approved travel between assigned job sites.
On-call availability is preferred. After-hours and emergency work is paid at an agreed-upon premium rate, with details discussed before assigning after-hours work.
