Job Description
A lovely family in Fairfield County, CT is searching for a warm, compassionate, and experienced career Live-in Nanny to join their household and offer exceptional care for their 2 young children - toddler and elementary school aged. The schedule is Wednesday through Sunday, from roughly 6:30 am to 7:00 pm, with a two-hour break midday each day. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and proactive to assist with miscellaneous household task including but not limited to laundry for the children and light laundry for the household and parents, running errands, assisting with dishes, etc.; approaching your work with a no job is too big or too small mentality. Private live-in quarters provided. Relocation assistance is provided for interested candidates who are living outside of Connecticut but willing to relocate long-term.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the daily care, nurturing, and supervision of the family’s two children (elementary and toddler aged)
- Must seek to create an engaging, caring, supportive, and safe environment
- Strive to develop nurturing and trusting relationships with the children
- Diligently manage children’s daily routines (morning, mealtime, naptime, bath time, and bedtime); with emphasis on naptime and bedtime routines
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including outdoor play, trips to the playground, and other scheduled activities
- Accompanying the children to and from engagements (appointments, activities, etc.)
- Children’s laundry with occasional request to assist with household laundry
- Assist with keeping the playroom and children's rooms organized
- Assist with light household duties as needed
- Flexible and willing to travel domestically with the family in winter months
- Maintain open and clear communication with parents
- Light pet duties required for a small dog
- Additional Nanny responsibilities as needed and requested
Requirements:
- Strong command of English language; excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- 5-7 + years related experience working in a similar position with interest in long term opportunities
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Childhood Development or Education preferred but not required
- Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
- Works with the utmost discretion and confidentiality at all times while demonstrating integrity and strong ethics
- Poised and professional in both mindset and manner demonstrating high emotional intelligence
- Comfortable and willing to work in a home with one small dog and assist with occasional light pet care
- Outstanding problem solver; resourceful and quick-thinking
- Hands-on and proactive approach; able to see jobs through to completion with personal accountability and a no task is too big or too small mindset
- Flexibility in scheduling with willingness to work additional hours as needed and travel domestically in winter months
- Must be positive, energetic, and adaptable; works with a “can-do” attitude
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified or willingness to become certified
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional organizational skills and dedication to responsibilities
- Physically agile; able to swim and provide swim monitoring
- COVID-19 vaccinated and boosted
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record; comfortable driving a larger vehicle
- Legally Authorized to work within the United States without sponsorship or restrictions
