Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a EDM Specialist to join our Cable Backplane Systems team. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA.
This is an opportunity for an EDM professional to join a global technology company that is the leader in the high-speed interconnect industry. You will be an integral part of a team responsible for new product development. Product development team engineering disciplines include mechanical design, signal integrity, mechanical integrity, manufacturing, and process development. All while meeting performance, cost, and customer objectives.
Position Summary:
The EDM Specialist will be responsible for programming and operating a variety of EDM machinery including wire EDM, die sinking EDM, and hole-drilling EDM to produce a wide variety of precision parts. This individual will develop programs, design fixtures, set-up workpieces, check programs, and operate related machinery to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations to meet precise tolerance and finish requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create programs for a variety of EDM machines, including wire, sinker, and hole drilling machines.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and EDM programming data.
- Set up and operate EDM machines (wire, sinker, and hole-drilling EDM) along with other shop equipment.
- Monitor machining processes and inspect finished parts.
- Maintain machinery and conduct minor repairs or adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-year Machine Tool degree or certificate preferred.
- Minimum 3 years EDM experience, preferably in a tool & die environment.
- Minimum 3 years programming experience preferably with DP Esprit.
- Proficiency using solid modeling tools (Creo, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Experience with precision machining and EDM equipment.
- Familiarity with a variety of materials such as aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, copper, and other alloys.
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of tolerances.
- Ability to read and understand specifications.
- Knowledge of measurement equipment, tools, and gauges.
- Good communication skills.
- A self-starter who uses initiative and problem identification to find solutions.
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Ability to work in a team environment.

- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain EDM equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
