Scope:

The Flowback/Drill Out Manager is responsible for overseeing all flowback and drill-out operations during the completion phase of oil and gas wells. This role manages field personnel, equipment, and job execution to ensure operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and customer standards.


Key Expectations:

  • Manage and supervise flowback and drill-out crews on location.
  • Coordinate daily operations with frac crews, company representatives, and other service providers.
  • Ensure all safety procedures, including LOTO, pressure control, and company policies, are followed on the pad.
  • Oversee rig-up and rig-down of flowback equipment, including manifolds, separators, sand traps, and iron.
  • Monitor well performance, pressures, and flow rates during drill-out and flowback operations.
  • Ensure proper equipment inventory, maintenance, and functionality before and during jobs.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and accountability to field supervisors and crew members.
  • Communicate operational updates, issues, and job progress to customers and upper management.
  • Ensure all documentation, reporting, and operational data are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and overall job performance.
  • Coordinates with regional management and safety personnel to ensure compliance with all quality and HSE policies.
  • Develops and establishes a sustainable service line team that delivers quality service while aligning with the organization’s safety culture.
  • Upholds all company policies related to safety, purchasing, human resources, and operations.
  • Uses Stop Work Authority when unsafe or environmentally unsound conditions could lead to an incident impacting health, safety, or environment.
  • Establishes and promotes general direction of the product line within the region.
  • Coordinates with sales and business development team to understand industry direction and customer needs.
  • Influences region pricing for customer requests for review by upper management.
  • Works with dispatch, shop leadership, and sales to ensure customer equipment and manpower needs are met.
  • Coordinates with region management personnel to ensure compliance with all customer requests that align with company policy.
  • Oversees all processes associated with equipment preparedness, equipment and manpower tracking, and invoice creation and approval.
  • Coordinates with the Area Manager to develop and organize product line operational training, ensuring its deployment to develop personnel.
  • Manages field product line personnel, including hiring, terminations, scheduling, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Assists with vendor management and oversees product line spending.
  • Conducts and participates in pre-job (pre-task) meetings with fellow employees and documents on JHAs.
  • Ensures that all non-conformances are documented, investigated, and reported.
  • Ensures all product line employees follow work instructions and SOPs as assigned in QMS.


Requirements:

Safety Requirements:


  • Encourage employees to stop work if they identify unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and proper equipment use.
  • Address violations promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training on recognizing hazards and proper safety procedures.
  • Know and provide clear procedures for reporting near-misses, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
  • Review and analyze incident reports to implement preventive measures.
  • Coordinate root cause analyses (RCAs) as necessary.
  • Hold team accountable for maintaining a strong safety culture.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to operate and instruct basic equipment and tools safely.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Work in high-noise environments (over 85 dBA) with appropriate hearing protection.
  • Adapt to outdoor conditions, including extreme weather and various terrains.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of flowback systems, drill-out operations, and pressure control equipment.
  • Proven leadership and crew management experience in the oilfield.
  • Ability to manage multiple crews and high-pressure operations safely.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and operational planning skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety and operational standards.
  • Prefer enthusiastic, self-motivated people with a desire to learn and help others.
  • Be able to work and act in a professional manner and exercise independent judgment in the resolution of administrative problems.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively is required.
  • Understand the general operation of all office equipment such as a computer, printer, copier, and calculator/10-key.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software programs to meet the needs of the position is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where responsibilities frequently change.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Training Requirements:

  • PEC/SafeLand certification.
  • Forklift and Aerial Lift training (as required).
  • Rigging Training.
  • H2S certification.


Work Environment

  • Indoor, shop, and outdoor environments.
  • Frequently wears PPE.
