About this position:

This position will primarily be responsible for overseeing the day to day operation / health of our Manufacturing System Server Environment. This position will coordinate with customers, the local Manufacturing Systems Technical contractor, and Honda North America IT.

Your responsibilities:

  • Respond to, troubleshoot, diagnose root cause, propose and implement countermeasures for issues impacting IT manufacturing systems infrastructure.
  • Monitor production IT infrastructure environment to ensure adequate system performance and response times for production applications.
  • Establishes and documents environment and procedures to ensure data integrity including system failover and backup/recovery with a zero downtime mindset.
  • Create and maintain technology roadmaps based on business requirements and aligned with peers at other Honda manufacturing companies in North America.
  • Present and complete production IT systems infrastructure changes, upgrades, and additional hardware requirements based on business requirements and technology roadmap.
  • Ensure software license compliancy, certificates and vendor maintenance of HMIN production IT systems.

What you need to be successful in the role:

  • Understanding of Cisco UCS principles, setup and configuration to manage infrastructure resources.
  • Ability to install, configure, backup, restore and administer Red Hat, Jboss, AMQ, and DB2.
  • Manage, configure, and assign resources in VMware.
  • Ability to create, utilize, modify, and maintain Ansible scripts.
  • Strong communication and team working skills – both verbal and written, ability to deliver informative and well-organized information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Lead and organize multiple support teams to resolve system and infrastructure issues including peers from other Honda locations, external service providers, and consultants.
  • Provide technical and subject matter expertise for daily operations and related projects based on business requirements.
  • Ability to use SQL and DB2 commands to SELECT, SORT, GROUP, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, EXPORT, and IMPORT DB2 data, ability to use scripts for automating day to day tasks.
  • Experience with installing, configuring, and managing monitoring tools.
  • Working knowledge or experience with DB2 Q replication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Word.

Required Work Experience:

At least 2 years Red Hat system administration experience.

Required Education:

BS computer science/technology.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, open office work environment where production or system downtime requires immediate attention even when cause is unknown.
  • On call support availability 24x7.
  • Weekends, adjusted shifts, and paid overtime required to execute and verify system changes for hardware, software and applications.
  • Potential for travel up to 25%
