Job Title: Forklift Mechanic
Job Description
This role focuses on performing maintenance, repair, replacement, and troubleshooting on various models of material handling equipment, including propane and electric forklifts. You ensure that all material handling equipment at internal customer locations operates safely, efficiently, and reliably by completing service work in a timely and cost-effective manner. You also maintain accurate documentation and data entry to support all job requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement on a variety of material handling equipment, including propane and electric forklifts.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on material handling equipment to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks to reduce equipment downtime and extend the life of forklifts and related equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic system schematics to diagnose and repair equipment accurately.
- Complete all required paperwork and data input accurately and on time to document work performed and maintain service records.
- Travel to internal customer locations as needed to perform maintenance and repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Use and maintain an adequate set of personal tools required to perform daily tasks safely and efficiently.
- Operate material handling equipment once properly certified, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Lift, move, and handle parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance.
- Frequently push, pull, kneel, bend, and reach while performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Provide professional customer service, communicating clearly and respectfully with internal customers regarding work performed and equipment status.
- Use basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, to complete reports, track work, and support service operations.
Essential Skills
- Minimum three years of experience in repair and maintenance of material handling equipment.
- Specific experience working with material handling equipment such as propane and electric forklifts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics.
- Proficiency in completing required data input and paperwork to support all job requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance.
- Capability to frequently push, pull, kneel, bend, and reach while performing job duties.
- Must be capable of becoming certified to operate material handling equipment.
- Must maintain and use an adequate set of personal tools as required for the role.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with internal customers.
- Basic computer knowledge, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or technical school graduate preferred.
- Experience as a maintenance technician or in preventive maintenance roles.
- Experience in forklift repair or similar industrial equipment service.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field service environment.

Work Environment
You work primarily inside a warehouse environment that is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering a consistent daytime work routine. You regularly work around material handling equipment and industrial tools, following established safety procedures and using your own set of personal tools to perform repairs and maintenan

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
